Get to know your SU Vice-President

 

Tell us a little about yourself, what are your interests and what is your background?

 

Hello, I’m Hermione-Jane, I am from the Shetlands Islands in Scotland and grew up with three siblings in a small community where I participated in Musical theatre, Music and Sport groups. 

 

What Course did you study?

 

I have just graduated from the Musical Theatre (Music) course.

 

Tell us about your roles and responsibilities?

 

  • Represents the academic needs of all union members within the university

  • Key role in supporting students through their academic journey

  • Supports students through relevant panel process 

  • Involved in key decision-making processes within both the University & the SU

  • Key role in organising and running SU campaigns and events

 

What are your manifesto points this year?

 

  • Support during cost of living crisis (I've implemented a "free stuff corner" in the SU Shop that provides household items for free & continued to provide free period products)
  • Further pushing sustainability (I have implemented community fridges on both campuses in the LRCs to prevent food waste by giving free food)
  • Host more varied events 
  • Improve equality, diversity and inclusivity & awareness
  • Improve overall quality of life for students

 

How have you been involved with the SU during your time at Chi Uni? 

 

Before taking on my role as Vice President I worked as a member of the SU bar staff. I was also the Vice President of the Adventure Sports Society and participated in Musical Theatre society where I assistant directed their production of Godspell.

 

What are you are looking forward to achieving with your role? 

 

Supporting students to ensure they have the best University experience possible. I can't wait to meet everyone!
