Hi, I'm James (he/him), and I've been your Academic Officer (BOC) since 2023. I'm a third-year MSci Advanced Applied Psychology student with a special interest in psycholinguistics, social psychology and online radicalisation. I'm also a Regional Ambassador for the South-East with the Holocaust Educational Trust. My interests include crocheting, horror comics, and looking after my plants.

  • Continue improving the Student Representative Programme through increased training, awareness and visibility, as well as improved connections between Reps and the SU.
  • Working towards standardising assignment briefs and feedback across departments to ensure that students have all necessary information and support in place to succeed
  • Increasing support within lectures and seminars, especially for more practical or performance-based degrees that still rely on written grades, as well as increasing awareness of existing support provision such as Academic Skills Support and RLF

How have you been involved with the SU during your time at Chi Uni?

This year will be my second term as your Academic Officer (BOC)

What are you are looking forward to achieving with your role?

I look forward to working with students and staff across the university and my fellow officers to ensure academic provision representative of the issues of various groups within our student body. I especially look forward to continuing work on the student voice programme with our VP and continuing work with the Education Committee. Increasing the visibility of academic provision and the support of the SU in all subject areas is particularly important to me. Most of all, I look forward to hearing from you and helping create the best learning environment possible for all at Chichester.
