VARSITY 2025
Varsity is back and WSIHE will be going head to head against teams at Winchester for a day of sport and friendly competition!
Spectators are welcomed, but will need to make their own way to and from the venues.
Teams taking part will need to purchase their Varsity ticket (includes shirt and travel on coach) on their club webpage.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
As a participant in Varsity 2025, you will be representing yourselves, your club/team, the Students’ Union and the University. The Respect Code of Conduct outlines what is expected of you during the event. Varsity 2025, hosted at Winchester, is alcohol-free event.
Mutual respect underpins the whole event and is defined as respecting and treating people with dignity. This a friendly rivalry between the two universities showcasing our competitive spirit.
All participants and spectators agree to:
- Not to consume alcohol in the venues, pitches or on transport provided and abide by the rules set by Winchesters Students Union: this is an alcohol-free event.
- Respect Winchester’s students, staff, officials and facilities during the event. Unacceptable behaviour includes discriminatory language/offensive language, homophobia/transphobia, body shaming and aggressive behaviour.
- Respect one another. It is a friendly rivalry!
- Respect the officials during fixtures. Any inappropriate behaviour will result in your removal from the event.
- Ensure that facilities are left clean and to remove all litter after the fixture.
- Act responsibly on social media when showing the club/team matches including the lead up and after the event.
Reporting Offensive or insulting behaviour:
- Call it out – if it is a member of your team or someone you know, tell them to stop and remind them what is expected.
- Someone you don’t know – report to event staff.
Requesting assistance for first aid or a medical incident:
- Ensure that the person involved is in a safe environment – move bags and people if necessary
- Shout/send someone to get event staff or university first aiders
- Ensure that Chichester SU Staff are aware of the situation
Teams travelling on coaches must understand:
- All teams will be given pre allocated departure locations and times (from both Chichester and Winchester)
- The Driver of each coach is responsible for the safety of the vehicle at all times and may remove any passenger whose behaviour prejudices safety.
- By law, you must always wear your seatbelt.
- Passengers that cause damage to the vehicle will be held responsible and expected to pay for these damages.
- Food, drink (including alcoholic beverages) and any illegal substances are not allowed to be consumed on the coach. Coach drivers have the right to remove you from the coach if you do so.
- Passengers are responsible for arriving in good time prior to the departure time. If passenger fails to arrive in time and misses the coach, the passenger must make their own way via public transport.
- Teams will need to wear their Varsity top to gain entry on to the coach.
