Dr Melanie Smart is a clinical psychologist and director of Chichester Child Psychology, a private clinical practice located in Chichester city centre. Dr Smart specialises in infant, child and adolescent mental health assessment and intervention, she spent 18 years working in the NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Child Learning Disability Services. Dr Smart is trained in the following approaches: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Clinical Neuropsychology, and more!

Explore the pathways into becoming a Practitioner Psychologist – A qualified Psychologist who works clinically or directly with client groups in a therapeutic or consultative way.
This session will cover all aspects of becoming a Practitioner, with a particular focus on Clinical Psychology - the pathways to qualification, career prospects and the realities of working as a Practitioner/Clinician.
The talk will not focus on Academic pathways in Psychology Careers – PhD and beyond, or Research based jobs and opportunities, but there are often parts of this work in Practitioner roles so if you are unsure, please attend and ask!
